By late October, the sun sets early across much of Europe. Sometimes before the workday is even over. Does that mean disc golf season is finished until spring? Not at all.
Glow discs let you keep playing after sunset. Charge your discs, grab a headlamp and head out for a different kind of round on a familiar course.
Here are five reasons to make room for a glow disc in your bag this autumn.
1. Your game doesn't end at sunset
Can't make it to the course before dark? Glow discs give you another option.
You can still enjoy a round at dusk or after dark, as long as the course rules allow it. That means disc golf can stay part of your weekly routine throughout autumn and winter.
Before heading out, check the course rules and be mindful of other people using the area.
2. Glow discs are easier to find in the dark
A regular disc can be hard to spot in grass or fallen leaves after dark. A well-charged glow disc is easier to follow through the air and find after landing.
How brightly it glows depends on the plastic, how well it's charged and the surrounding light. The glow gradually fades, so it's worth recharging your discs during the round.

3. A familiar course feels completely different
Glow disc golf brings a new experience to a course you already know.
Distances can be harder to judge, familiar fairways look different and watching a glowing disc fly through the dark is part of the fun.
Even if you've played the same course hundreds of times, an evening round can still surprise you.
4. A good reason to get friends together
A glow round doesn't have to be about competition. Sometimes it's just a great way to spend an evening together.
Get a few friends together, bring a thermos of hot tea and pick a shorter course. Glowing discs, a little disc hunting and good company can make an ordinary autumn evening feel special.
5. Glow discs work during the day too
Glow discs aren't just for playing in the dark. You can throw them in daylight too, and they can easily become part of your regular bag.
Choose your discs the same way you normally would: based on their flight characteristics and how they suit your throw.

What do you need for glow disc golf?
- Glow discs. Two or three are enough to get started. A putter, a midrange and an easy-to-throw driver make a good combination.
- A light to charge your discs. Glow plastic needs light to charge. Before your round, hold your discs under a strong light, such as a flashlight.
- A UV flashlight. A small UV flashlight is useful for quickly recharging your discs between throws.
- A light to see where you're going. Bring a headlamp or flashlight to move safely around the course. A small light or reflector can also make a basket easier to spot, if the course rules allow it.
- Warm clothes. Autumn evenings can get cold, especially during longer rounds.
